Found.

This time I've surely exceeded ALL expectations by taking well over TWELVE MONTHS to update. It was a monumental feat of aboslute and total apathy, but I managed to achieve it.  I would say a pat on the back is in order, but I would no doubt procrastinate over that for at least... well, at best a few weeks? I'd say a month, just to be sure.

Yurtgirl World has changed in that time with the addition of another purr-baby (the illustrious and somewhat cumbersome, Mr Barnaby Bear) and the arrival of a real-life Italian pasta machine. Feathery dinosaurs now occupy our backyard, keeping the redbacks down and producing fresh eggs on a reasonably regular basis. (There are times where this arrangement is a little one-sided, when more than one dino decides to go broody.  Avian negotiation was never my strong point, so I find it's best just to ride it out, rather than reason with a nesting-box bound hen with a very sharp beak.)  The garden is fledgling with focus now on a small vegetable patch in a front corner of the yard. Adjacent to that a drought-resistant summer garden is taking shape. Lots of mediterranean plants nestled in amongst local natives from the State Flora nursery. I'm also in the middle of transplanting fruit trees into their new espaliared positions near the front fence.  Yes, I am taking up botanic-bondage but the trees amazingly seem to flourish from it!

Food continues to be of great importance. I have made a pledge to visit farmers markets more this year, and continue supporting local producers. I am so lucky to live in an area where there are so many amazing growers and producers, who are passionate about their food and want to share it with others. I am hoping that through this blog, I can share this more as well.

I am also hoping to hone my cooking skills in months to come. I love the idea of being involved in more culinary pursuits beyond just the confines of my own kitchen. Who knows that this will bring!

So will there be more writing?  Or another bloggers-drought?  Lets hope the proverbial boot will kick-start the equally metaphorical buttocks, and greater things will happen here.

  1. Ah, feathered dinosaurs are fun but sometimes a little scary. Sometimes the pet bird looks at me like he is planning murder, and when he runs at you head down to attack, it is just like the raptors in Jurasic Park! Here's hoping he doesn't team up with next door's chickens to take over the world!

    1. Birds are crazy... chickens especially. I question the sensibilties of mine sometimes, especially when they manage to escape into the front yard then can't work out how to get back again. But I suspect they just play dumb, so we can't work out their plan of world domination. Or is this just me??
