It would be an understatement to say that I'm a little food obssessed. I'm not talking about the sort of 'EAT ALL THE THINGS!!!' obsession, but more about food as an overall subject. I do love eating food, don't get me wrong, but the love-affair I have for food goes beyond the ingestion of its physical being. I spend hours flipping through cookbooks and food magazines, making lists of recipes I want to try and ogling cooking shows like they're some kind of kinky edible pornography. I'm the sort of crazy that likes to walk through a farmers market, and continental food halls absorbing the all-pervading comestible atmosphere like a sort of nourishing osmosis. It's a little insane perhaps, and probably only those who share my like-minded love all that is food-related will really 'get' this. The rest of you are possibly backing away slowly at this point, and with good reason.
The other half says that I get this 'look' when I start to 'talk food'. Apparenlty it's a bit of a glazed look (and now I'm thinking glazed yeast buns), with a half smile. And that is HER signal to back away slowly. This is generally because it's going to end with me making a new food related purchase of which I will include me talking in far too much detail about said purchase and providing her with new levels of untapped boredem. I don't know about you though, but the consideration of heat conductivity in saucepans is a thoroughly interesting subject for me...
Sounds like my boyfriend and his family! They are always making new things. Me.
ReplyDelete, give me some chips or wedges and I'm good!
I love making everything from scratch... and the more complex the better sometimes!! :P
DeleteYou know I get you 1000 % on this, culinary porn is an obsession, sadly I eat too many of my objects of desire :-P
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'm a bit of weirdo as in that I often enjoy the 'creating' process more than the eating!
