The spouse and I were just discussing how we wouldn't be able to have any fruit trees and bushes if we move to the country - because of the bears! I'm going to miss making raspberry jam and saskatoon berry muffins. :P
We got one of our gardening catalogues in the mail this week too, and I notice a few pages with the corners turned over for flowers that are deer-proof. ;o)
Saskatoon berries are a lot like blueberries, but with just a slightly different taste that I can't describe ... less sweet and more “dusty” or something. Really, I can't describe it, except they are SO yummy. But the squirrels really like them too, so if I'm not quick enough to pick them, they do it for me! :D
